TCB resumes OMS of daily commodities

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has resumed open market sale (OMS) of essential commodities at subsidized rates across the country today ahead of Eid-Ul Azha.

Sale of daily commodities (lentil, oil and sugar) across the country will continue till July 5.

TCB started the proramme aiming to benefit around 10 million families.

However, TCB will start sales of essential commodities in Madaripur, Shariatpur, Gopalganj and Munshiganj districts from June 26.

TCB’s OMS programme could not be started right now in the districts under Sylhet division due to the flood situation but the date of starting OMS of commodities will be announced later, officials said.

The TCB will carry out the OMS programme to Family Card holders at dealers’ shops or designated permanent establishments.

One can buy a maximum of one kilogram of sugar at Tk 55 per kg, two kilograms of lentils at Tk 65 per kg and two liters of soybean oil at Tk 110 per litter at a time.
