The executive committee for Shariatpur Journalists' Association, Dhaka was formed for 2022-23 terms with News Editor of Bangla Vision Benzir Ahmed and Senior Reporter of Amar Sangbad Asaduzzaman Azam as the president and general secretary respectively.

The committee was formed during the biennial annual general meeting (AGM)-2022 of the association held at a restaurant in Segunbagicha of the capital on Friday afternoon.

Rojina Islam (Prothom Alo), Rezaul Haque Reza (Ananda Alo), Monir Hossain (Nayadiganta), Shahdat Hossain Shahin (Daily Ganamukti) and Syed Abdul Gaffar Tapan (Independent Television) were made vice-presidents respectively. The joint general secretaries are Farhana Juthi (DBC) and F Rahman Rupak (Daily Ganamukti).

Obaidullah Mamun of Somoy Television was made organising secretary while Mahabub Alam (The Daily Sun) and Jamal Uddin (Bangla Vision) were made assistant organising secretaries respectively.

Mahmudul Hasan (Amar Sangbad) was made office secretary, Khalilur Rahman Jewel (ATN Bangla), social welfare secretary, Jafor Ahmed (Daily Bangladesh), publicity and publication secretary,  Razibul Islam (Nagorik TV), sports and cultural affairs secretary, Emrul Hasan Bappi (The Daily Star), law affairs secretary and Jakia Ahmed (Dainik Bangla), women affairs secretary. 

The members of the executive committee are Mozammel Haque Chanchal (Daily Jugantor), Ataur Rahman (Daily Samakal), Abdus Salam (Prothom Alo), Mohsin Bepari (BSS), Habibur Rahman Palash (Daily Desh Rupantar) and Mohiuddin Tushar (Daily Ganamukti).

The posts of finance secretary and information and technology affairs secretary were kept vacant.

Earlier in the morning, Deputy Minister of the ministry of Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem spoke as the chief guest at the AGM. 

Among others, Managing Director of Popular Life Insurance Company Ltd BM Yusuf Ali and former President of Dhaka Reporters Unity Rafiqul Islam Azad also spoke as the special guests.

During his speech, the minister Enamul Hoque Shameem said that those who criticise over Padma Bridge have no patriotism.

"The people who criticise over Padma Bridge are the enemies of the nation. Construction of the bridge with our own fund has brightened dignity of Bangladesh," he said.

By constructing the bridge, it is proved that the daughter of Bangabandhu Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does what she promises, he added.

Outgoing President of the association Mozammel Haque Chanchal was in the chair while Outgoing General Secretary of the association Ataur Rahman moderated the function.
