Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hasan Mahmud said "It is usual for us to maintain good relations with India which helped us get independence in 1971. A section of people make anti-Indian statements for political gain. It should be kept in mind that Bangladesh cannot develop showing antagonism towards a neighbouring country like India. The journalists should be cautious not to make report or cover statements which are prejudicial for Bangladesh-India relations,” he said.
Vikram K Doraiswami said journalists can highlight their country by candlelight and the awardees did the work well.
IIMCAAB President and Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim presided over the programme which was attended by IIMCAAB General Secretary Zahid Newaz Khan and senior journalist Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, among others.
