The High Court ordered Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) to give Taka 15 lakh to family of each of the 104 children died after drinking fake paracetamol syrup in 1991 and 2009.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Ashraful Kamal and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the judgment after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard.
"The court also said the DGDA cannot avoid responsibility over the deaths of 104 children," Senior Advocate Manzil Murshid said.
As many as 76 children died in 1991 and another 28 died in 2009 after taking fake paracetamol syrup.
