A conference titled "Members of Parliament (MPs) Conference for Achieving Tobacco-Free Bangladesh by 2040" has begun in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Parliamentary Forum for Health and Wellbeing organised the three-day conference with the support of Shastho Shurokkha Foundation and Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, Bangladesh.
Among others, AFM Ruhul Haque MP, chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Mministry of Science and Technology, Dr Md Abdus Shahid, chairman of Committee on Estimates of Bangladesh Parliament, Prof Dr Md Habibe Millat of Bangladesh Parliamentary Forum for Health and Wellbeing and Vandana Shah, Regional Director, South Asia Programs of Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK) spoke at the programme
The objective of the conference is to implement Tobacco-Free Bangladesh by 2040 announced by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Prof Dr Habibe Millat presided over the programme.
