The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India Muhammad Imran on Thursday inaugurated a “Bangabandhu Corner” at the Lovely Professional University (LPU) in the state of Punjab of India. 

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of the “Bangabandhu Corner” and collaboration in the academic exchanges has also been signed between the Lovely Professional University and the Bangladesh High commission. 

Referring Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a legendary global leader, the Chancellor of the Lovely Professional University Ashok Mittal expressed his hope that the “Bangabandhu Corner” will provide all the students who are studying this university the opportunity to learn about Bangabandhu and the history of Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner said in his speech, that Bangabandhu and Bangladesh synonymous and the books in this “Bangabandhu Corner” can be used as useful references for researchers, Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi. 

He also added that this corner will enable the students, researchers and faculties to understand Bangabandhu’s vision and in the process, understand Bangladesh. He recalled with deep gratitude the contribution of the people and government of India and the Indian armed forces for their all out support during our difficult days.

Muhammad Imran said, in the recent years the economy of Bangladesh is developing rapidly for our able and farsighted Prime Minister the daughter of Bangabandhu, Sheikh Hasina.  He said, the nation has achieved huge progress in various sectors.

A spectacular cultural show was also organized in the University Campus showcasing the folk songs and dances of Bangladesh, performed by the artists from Bangladesh. The High Commission of Bangladesh in New Delhi took this initiative to mark the auspicious occasion of the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, golden jubilee of the independence, and the 50th year of diplomatic relations with India.

The High commissioner was welcomed by the Bangladeshi students studying in the Lovely Professional University. It is to be noteworthy that this university caters education to more than 45 thousands students from India and other parts of the World.
