Int'l conference on genocide begins at Bangla Academy

A two-day long international conference on 'Fifty years journey of Bangladesh: Genocide, Nation-state, and Bangabandhu cherished Bangladesh' began at Bangla Academy on Thursday.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid inaugurated the conference at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad auditorium, said a press release.

A total of 25 experts and researchers from different countries including Canada, New Zealand, Turkey, India, Nepal, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are presenting their articles and speeches at the forum.

Lt. Col. (Retd.) Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir Bir Protik and Journalist Manash Ghosh also attended the inaugural session of the conference, with president of '1971: Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum Trust' Muntasir Mamun in the chair.

Director General at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies Binayak Sen presented the keynote speech at the inaugural session.
