Our independence didn’t come easily. We had to pay a lot for it. It cost us millions of lives and dignity of numerous girls and women. Pakistan army had imposed a war on us attacking the innocent, unarmed Bangalee civilians. On March 25, they launched infamous ‘Operation Searchlight’, one of the most barbarous pogroms of human history. Different programmes were taken across the country to commemorate the day and martyrs. The photo was taken from Baddhyabhumi Memorial in Kishoreganj’s Katiadi on Friday evening when Dwipshikha Sangskriti Charcha Kendra, a cultural practice centre, lighted candles to commemorate the martyrs on the National Genocide Day.
