Voluntary blood donors are bigger relatives than relatives: Pijush Bandyopadhyay

Blood donation is one of the great deeds. And voluntary blood donors are bigger relatives than relatives. 

“If you want to be a real person, you have to take regular part in such services as blood donation” this was stated by Pijush Bandyopadhyay, CEO of Ekushey Television, a heroic freedom fighter, as the chief guest at the award giving ceremony of voluntary blood donors organized by Quantum Foundation on Tuesday.

The event was held at the auditorium of the Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) at Kakrail in the capital. 

The voluntary organization honoured more than 300 voluntary blood donors who have donated blood at least 3 times, 10 times, 25 times or 50 times. At this time, certificates, special ID cards and crests of honour were handed over to the voluntary blood donors. 

Congratulating the voluntary blood donors, Pijush Bandyopadhyay called upon the young generation to come forward to meet the blood demand of our country.

Sajid Rahman expressed his feelings on behalf of the voluntary blood donors and Faiza Mostafa, a thalassemia patient, expressed his feelings among the regular blood donors.

Welcoming remarks was made by M Rezaul Hasan, Director Motivation of Quantum Foundation. The event was presided over by Madam Nahar Al Bokhari, Chief Coordinator, Voluntary Blood Donation Program, Quantum Foundation. She expressed her sincere gratitude and thanks to all the guests including the chief guest and regular blood donors.

Mentionable that our country needs about eight lakh bags of safe and healthy blood every year. Quantum has been conducting awareness raising and voluntary blood donation activities among the people since 1996 with the aim of meeting this huge demand of blood shortage. Over the past two decades, the Quantum Foundation has been able to play a role in saving the lives of over 1.3 million people.
