A newlywed housewife was burnt to death in a fire at a house in Dautali village under Jhalam union of Cumilla’s Barura upazila early Friday.

Quoting family members, Mohammad Asaduzzaman, station officer of Barura Fire Service, said the fire incident took place when the victim was sleeping inside the house while her husband went to a mosque to perform fajr prayer at 5:45am.

He said “They went to the spot at 6:15 am after receiving the news of the fire. Later, they brought the fire under control and recovered Yasmin's charred body from the house”.

He said the cause of the fire was not immediately known. However, a exploded gas cylinder was found inside the house. The matter is being investigated, he added.

It is learnt that Yasmin tied the knot with Rezaul two months ago.
