Defending champions Bashundhara Kings made their debut at the Bashundhara Kings Arena memorable when they defeated Bangladesh Police Football Club by 3-0 goals during a Bangladesh Premier League match at N-Block in Bashundhara Residential Area on Thursday.

The new era began in the country’s domestic football when Kings hosted Police FC at their dedicated home venue and riding on a brace by Brazilian forward cum captain Robson Robinho and another from forward Eleta Kingsley, Kings secured a big win in the match.

With the day’s feat, Kings earned a total of nine points from four matches while Police remained with the same two points from four games.

After a barren first-half, Robson broke the deadlock in the 66th minute of the game, off a pass from substitute midfielder Mahdi Yusuf Khan.

11 minutes later, the Brazilian forward doubled the margin converting a penalty.

Kings were awarded a penalty when Police defender Danilo Augusto fouled the England-born expat midfielder Mahdi inside the box in the 76th minute.

Substitute striker Eleta Kingsley netted the third for the winning side from the right flank, off a long cross from Mahdi in the 87th minute.

Before that goal, Police defender Esanur Rahman received a red card in the 82nd minute while their head coach Aristica Cioaba also conceded a yellow card due to his misbehaviour towards the referees.

In the day’s other match, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd and Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society played a 3-3 draw at the Sylhet District Stadium in Sylhet.

The Bashundhara Sports Complex, which is also the home venue of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd, will host their match against Dhaka Abahani Ltd today at 03:00pm.

In the other match, Saif Sporting Club will play against Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited at the Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj at 03:00pm.
