Immigration Division of Myanmar handed over 155 Bangladeshis, who were rescued from Myanmar, to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel at Ghundhum Zero Point on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar M Ali Hossain said that Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) handed over the 155 Bangladeshi migrants to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) delegation through a flag meeting at the border around 11:00am.
BGB-17 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Rabiul Islam led the BGB team in the flag meeting.
Earlier, the Myanmar authorities sent a list of 528 people who intended to return to Bangladesh, to authorities.
Later, the government has identified 155 people, out of 528, as Bangladeshi nationals after the police verification.
The Bangladeshis were reportedly going to Malaysia and Thailand through sea illegally.
