An employee of Bangladesh Railway was chopped to death in Rajshahi on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Jahurul Islam, a porter of Amnura Railway station. He was also Vice-president of Rajshahi Railway Open Line Branch of Shramik League.

Imran Ali, officer-in-charge of Chandrima Police Station, said a conflict between Jahurul and Sajib had been continuing over paddy cultivation on a piece of railway land adjacent to the colony for the last couple of years.

They got locked in an altercation over transplanting paddy seedlings on the land this noon. At one stage of the altercation, Sajib chopped Jahurul indiscriminately and left him in a grievous condition.
