Bashundhara Group, the leading business conglomerate of the country, brought smile to the faces of cold-hit people by presenting them with blankets in various parts of the country on Monday.
In Kalaroa Upazila of Satkhira, 600 destitute people including orphan students, the elderly, widows and the disabled received blankets.
Receiving a blanket, 80-year-old Habibar Gazi said, “Rich people don’t feel comfortable to come to the river bank and help the inhabitants in the area. Bashundhara Group is the first to reach us. Live long Bashundhara Group owner.”
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zubayer Hossain Chowdhury applauded Bashundhara Group for charity. He hoped the initiative of the business conglomerate will continue in days to come.
Officer-in-Charge of Kalaroa Police Station Nasiruddin Mridha, Joynagar Union Parishad Chairman Bisakha Tapan Saha and madrasa Superintendent Mujibur Rahman were present, among others.
In Swarupkati Upazila of Pirojpur, students of Mahmudkathi Tahfizul Quran Orphanage and Nurani Madrasa received blankets.
Md Abu Ashim Labib, a student of the madrasa, said, “The blanket will help me sleep well from today.”
