RAB cannot be blamed for one or two bad members: Minister AKM Mozammel Haque

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has said that the letter of the human rights organization to ban RAB in the UN peacekeeping mission was based on false information.

He said those who wrote such letters were based on false information. One or two members of the RAB may be bad; they will be punished according to the law. The whole army cannot be blamed for this, he added.

He was responding to a question from reporters at the unveiling ceremony of the book titled 'Bangabandhu's Life and Work' at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University (BDU) in Kaliakair, Gazipur on Sunday afternoon.

BDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Munaz Ahmed Noor presided over the function.

Deputy Commissioner Anisur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Open University Professor Humayun Akhter, Kaliakair Upazila Chairman Kamal Uddin Sikder also spoke at the function.

The Liberation War Minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has established Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University to make Bangladesh fit for leadership in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. One of the objectives of making digital Bangladesh sustainable is the establishment of this university.

He further said that the university is working to create skilled human resources by implementing Sheikh Hasina's plan to make Bangladesh a developed and prosperous country by 2041.

As many as 12 human rights bodies wrote to UN Under-Secretary General Jean-Pierre Lacroix seeking to ban the elite police unit following US sanctions, reports the Human Rights Watch.
