Oriental Phoenix secure title of BDT 2500000 AOV Bangladesh Championship

Oriental Phoenix became the champions of the maiden edition of Arena of Valor Bangladesh Championship Dhaka at the city’s Jamuna Future Park on Friday.

The champions shared BDT 12,00,000 out of the prize pool BDT 25,00,000 while the runners-up We Esports Armada got BDT 5,00,000.

Some 5000 players competed in the 5v5 multiplayer e-sports event held into three zones – Dhaka, Khulna and Chittagong – from December 16 to January 21.

The country head of Arena of Valor Bangladesh Kazi Arafat Hossain told The Daily Sun that the competition would inspire youngsters to enter into the professional e-sports.

“The competition will inspire players to enter into professional e-sports. Now, we are planning to host another international competition including South Asian nations next March or April. Top teams from that meet will get a chance to compete in Asian Games,” he said.

“Eight e-sports including AOV have been added into Asian Games this year. We will send top teams from South Asian nations to compete there. I believe Bangladesh have a great chance to earn medals on that big stage,” he added.

Oriental Phoenix team manager Ashadullah Al Galib said that these competitions would broaden the doors of professional e-sports for Bangladeshi players.

“We need more such competitions because these will broaden the doors of professional e-sports for local players here.  In addition, the government's patronization is also needed in this emerging field,” he added.

Meanwhile, Arena of Valor is a multi player e-sports games (5vs5) which have been determined as medal events for the Asian Games 2022 along with seven other e-sports.

Also, Arena of Valor was one of six e-sports video games featured at Asian Games 2018, Southeast Asian Games 2019 and Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2021 as part of the demonstration sport.
