When completed, this bridge is expected to establish direct road communication of Bancharampur and Nabinagor Upazilas of Brahmanbaria district with Dhaka & Northern and South-western part of the country, says Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bangladesh in its official facebook post.

Establishing alternate route of Dhaka-Chittagong Highway and Dhaka-Sylhet Highway, it will also provide the shortest road connectivity of Dhaka city with Agartala of India.

The government of Korea and the government of Bangladesh have already agreed to cooperate on the construction of the bridge under the government to government (G2G) and Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme in 2020.

If the negotiation is completed smoothly, the Meghna Bridge project will be implemented by a Korean consortium consists of Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company Ltd, Hyundai Engineering & Construction Company Ltd and Korea Expressway Corporation.

In addition to this, several other infrastructure projects are also under discussion between the two authorities to be implemented in G2G and PPP scheme.
