Arif, a three-year-old child from Ishwarganj Upazila in Mymensingh, came to District Circuit House to receive a blanket from Bashundhara Group, the leading business conglomerate of the country, on Thursday.
Taking him in the lap, his mother reached the spot in the hope of getting a blanket to keep her kid warm amid biting cold.
Bashundhara Group, thus, continued bringing smile to the faces of the destitute affected by severe cold in various parts of the country.
In Ishwarganj upazila, hundreds of impoverished people including children received blankets from Bashundhara Group on Thursday.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hafiza Jesmin, local municipality Mayor Abdus Sattar, Officer-in-charge of Ishwarganj Police Station Abdul Kader Mia and Ishwarganj Press Club President Nilkantha Aich Majumder, among others, were present.
Travelling a 10-kilometer distance, disabled people -- Mustakim, Sharif and Mostafa -- reached the circuit house compound and received blankets.
Speaking on the occasion, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hafiza Jesmin lauded Bashundhara Group for reaching out to helpless people during any natural calamity. She wished the business conglomerate a gradual success.
Ruhul Amin Madani, a lawmaker from Mymensingh-7 and also a member of parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Religious Affairs, attended the event as the chief guest.
Applauding Bashundhara Group, he said the largest business conglomerate always plays a pioneering role in extending humanitarian assistance to poverty-stricken people.
