Bashundhara Group, the leading business conglomerate of the country, stood by cold-hit destitute people by providing blankets in various parts of the country on Wednesday.
In Nandail Upazila of Mymensingh, around 200 orphans and madrasa students received blankets and expressed joy and prayed for the welfare of Bashundhara Group.
Receiving a blanket, Sakhina Khatun, 80, said, “Earlier, Bashundhara Group provided me with rice, oil, salt and other food items. Now, it has given me the blanket. My happiness beggars description.”
Besides, Bashundhara Group handed out blankets among orphan students at Baitus Sunnah Girls’ Madrasa in the municipality area.
Nandail Upazila Parishad Chairman Hasan Mahmud Jewel was present, among others.
In Dewanganj Upazila of Jamalpur, 400 impoverished people received blankets at Alia Madrasa field.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Solaiman Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kamrunnahar Sefa and Press Club President Rezaul Karim Elan attended the event.
In Sherpur, 300 destitute people, including members of the transgender community, received blankets at a programme held at SM Model School field. Local Mayor Golam Mohammad Kibria Liton inaugurated the programme.
Apart from that, blankets were distributed among 600 poverty-stricken people in various places of Jhenaigati, Nalitabari and Nakla.
Jamalpur NDC Md Mahbubul Hasan, Dewanganj Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Solaiman Hossain and Press Club President Hafiz Raihan were present.
