Fargana Hoque Pinky became the first Bangladeshi women batter to reach 1000 runs mark in T20 International cricket when she scored an unbeaten 7 runs against Malaysia in Commonwealth Games Women's Cricket Competition Qualifiers today.
Fargana hit the winning boundary as Bangladesh thrashed hosts Malaysia by eight wickets at Kuala Lumpur to make a good start. On the way to her second run, she became the first female batter in Bangladesh to touch the 1000-run milestone in any format in international cricket.
Fargana is the owner of the top three 50+ runs among the women cricketers of Bangladesh in the International Twenty20. In doing so she opened a new chapter in the history of women's cricket in the country. Nigar Sultana Jyoti, who was close to her, scored 861 runs so far.
Fargana is also at the top of the list of top run-getter in ODI format. Romana has scored the highest 893 runs in 50 overs cricket. Then there is Farzana who scored 841 runs. No one else has scored 400 runs in ODIs.
