Bashundhara Group brings smile to cold-hit people

Bashundhara Group, the leading business conglomerate of the country, has brought smile to the faces of the destitute affected by bitter cold by handing out blankets in various parts of the country on Monday.

In Purbadhala Upazila of Netrokona, 200 people received blankets at Moudam SESIP Model High School and Press Club premises.

Purbadhala Govt College lecturer Abu Hanif Talukder, Moudam SESIP Model High School Assistant Headmaster Md Abu Sayed and Press Club General Secretary Md Zayezul Islam were present on the occasion.

Helena Akhter of Bishkakuni Village, who received a blanket, said, “We were suffering a lot due to the cold. The blanket will help us to sleep well.”  

In eight unions of Kalmakanda Upazila of Netrokona, 500 people received blankets on the premises of Sheikh Russel Stadium and Nalchapra School.

Kalmakanda Upazila Parishad Chairman and freedom fighter Abdul Khalek Talukder, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Sohel Rana and Upazila Press Club General Secretary Md Fakhrul Alam Khasru, among others, were present.

Receiving a blanket, Mithila Hajong, a vulnerable woman, heaved a sigh of relief. She said that her family members will now get rid of the severe cold.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Sohel Rana lauded Bashundhara Group for standing by helpless people in the country. He expressed his gratitude to the leading business conglomerate.

In Trishal of Mymensingh, students of Asheki Darul Ulum Madrasah received blankets at a programme attended by Upazila Durniti Protirodh Committee President Mokhlesur Rahman Sabuj and Trishal Press Club General Secretary Mohammad Selim.

In Gopalganj, Bashundhara Group distributed facemasks among 500 people in five points and launched a public awareness campaign.

Md Shah Alam, Associate Professor of Govt Bangabandhu College, and other dignitaries attended the programme.
