Leading industrial conglomerate of the country Bashundhara Group put smile on the faces of destitute people who are vulnerable to the cold in different areas of the country on Sunday.
The group distributed blankets among underprivileged people in Moulvibazar, Bogura and Mymensingh on the day.
Kamalganj Municipality Mayor Md Jewel Ahmed attended the event as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Md Jewel said, “Bashundhara Group always stands by the destitute as part of its humanitarian gesture. On behalf of the people of Kamalganj, I express my gratitude to Bashundhara Group owner.”
After receiving a blanket, Khaleda Bibi, an elderly woman, prayed for welfare of Bashundhara Group and its owner.
Meanwhile, blankets were also distributed among 300 other people at Bhairab Bazar under Sreemangal upazila of the district.
In Adamdighi upazila of Bogura, 200 distressed people were provided with blankets in microbus stand area of Santahar town.
The distribution programme was attended by local Union Parishad Chairman Nahid Sultana Tripti and the town press club President Zillur Rahman.
In Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh, Bashundhara Group provided several hundreds of helpless people with blankets at a programme held on Tamat Islamia Dakhil Madrasah premises.
Noted businessman Mahbubul Alam Bachchu and Bhaluka Press Club president and General Secretary Asaduzzaman Sumon, among others, were present.
Receiving a blanket, Tarap Khan, 75, breathed a sigh of relief.
“We are suffering a lot due to the pinching cold. We cannot sleep well for lack of warm clothes. The blanket will be of great pleasure for us.”
On the same day, Bashundhara Group distributed blankets among 50 cold-hit people of Purbo Bhaluka village.
