Police dispersed demonstrating students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) and  rescued VC after three and a half hours.

A group of students of SUST on Sunday confined Vice Chancellor Farid Uddin Ahmed to a room during ongoing protest on the campus.

According to media report, nearly 200 female students of Begum Sirajunnesa Chowdhury dormitory continued their demonstration for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday to press home their three-point demand. 

Meanwhile, several students sustained injuries as police charged batons and blasted sound grenades while rescuing confined VC  this afternoon.

Sources said the students also hurled brick chips targeting police, leaving at least one lawman injured.
