Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest business conglomerate, continued to stand by the cold-hit people in various places of Bogura and Naogaon.
As part of his humanitarian gesture, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan initiated a blanket distribution programme one and a half months ago to support the country’s poor and destitute people during the winter.
Bashundhara Group earlier distributed blankets in Bogura and Naogaon. Bashundhara continued the blanket distribution programme in the area to help vulnerable people.
On Tuesday, blankets were distributed among 200 cold-hit people at a programme held on the premises of Saleha Public School and College in Sherpur Upazila of Bogura.
The lawmaker from Bogura-5 and freedom fighter Habibur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mainul Islam, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Md Raihan, Officer-in-Charge of local police station, Upazila Awami League organizing secretary Shamim Iftekhar, Sherpur Press Club general secretary Akram Hossain, among others, were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Bogura-5 lawmaker and freedom fighter Habibur Rahman said “Distribution of blankets among the poor people during the winter is a commendable initiative taken by Bashundhara Group. The affluent people of the society should follow this example.”
Hailing from Bagra Chakpota village, Mariam Bewa, an elderly widow, received a blanket and expressed her gratitude to Bashundhara Group.
The blanket distribution programmes were held at Raudhatul Quran Fatehpur Akkas Ali Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage and Nurani Girls’ Madrasa.
Attending the blanket distribution programme, the newly-elected chairman of Dubalhati Union Mokhlesur Rahman Azam thanked Bashundhara Group for standing by the helpless people.
