Bangladesh mission in New Delhi observes Bangabandhu’s Home-coming Day

Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Monday paid homage to Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking the great leader’s historical return to independent Bangladesh from Pakistan jail.

On this historic day January 10 in 1972 Bangabandhu returned home nearly one month after Bangladesh’s victory in the nine-month Liberation war against the Pakistani Occupational Forces.

On the occasion of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s homecoming day, Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi arranged detailed programme today.

Officials and embassy staff of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi started the program to mark the historic day of laying flower wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Embassy officials led by the honourable High Commissioner Muhammad Imran paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu with wreaths at the Chancery premises.

Later a discussion meeting was organized on the occasion at Bangabandhu auditorium of the Embassy. Head of Chancery Md. Shafiul Alam conducted the meeting.

Messages from President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were read out by Minister (Press) Shaban Mahmood and Minister (Commerce) Dr. A.K.M. Atiqul Haque respectively.

In this event of Bangabandhu’s home coming day a documentary was also screened followed by one minute silence.  A special munazat was offered seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of Bangabandhu, his family and the liberation war martyrs and continued peace and prosperity of the nation.
