Bashundhara Group brings relief to cold-hit people in Joypurhat

Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest business conglomerate, brought relief to the cold-hit people in different places of Joypurhat on Sunday.

Around 400 distressed people received blankets at a programme held on the premises of Ramdeo Bazla Govt High School in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila.

Former president of Joypurhat Press Club Mustakim Farruk and general secretary Abdur Rahman Rony, among others, were present.

Receiving a blanket, Rahela Bewa, an elderly widow, said, “I cannot close eyes at night due to pinching cold. The blanket will give me relief and allow me to sleep.”

Another recipient, Manwara Begum, prayed for welfare of the Bashundhara Group Chairman and his successors for helping the poor like her.

Meanwhile, 200 destitute people received blankets at a programme at Al-Hera Nurani Hafizia Orphanage in Joypurhat municipality and 400 at Govt Pilot High School in Khetlal Upazila.

Talking to this journalist, several children of the orphanage said they are worst affected by the biting cold and unable to sleep on the concrete floor. They expressed sigh of relief after getting blankets.

After receiving blankets, head maulana of Sabuznagar Orphanage and Hafizia Madrasah Md Nur Alam and children expressed joy and prayed for long life and welfare of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan.

The blanket distribution programme in Govt Pilot High School in Khetlal was attended by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ishtiaq Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of the Police Station Nirendranath Mandal, former area director of Palli Bidyut Samity Abdus Sabur Chowdhury.
