One more case of Omicron variant has been identified in the country.

The total number of Omicron cases in Bangladesh now stands at 21.

According to data released by  the global database GISAID last night, the sample was collected from a suspected male patient, aged around 22, in the capital on December 28 and sequenced by the Child Health Research Foundation in the capital.

Bangladesh first reported the Omicron variant on 11 December after two Bangladesh women cricketers, who were infected by the variant, returned from Zimbabwe.
