Mirza Mehedy Tamal of Bangladesh Pratidin and Asaduzzaman Biku of the daily Purbachal have been elected president and general secretary of Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) respectively.
Tamal got 142 votes in the CRAB election on Thursday while his nearest rival candidate Abu Saleh Akon secured 77 votes and Mizan Malik bagged 51 votes.
Muhammad Jahangir Alam has been elected vice-president, defeating Nitya Gopal and Shaheen Abdul Bari.
Emran Hossain Sumon has been elected as joint general secretary of the CRAB. Saiful Islam Montu has been elected treasurer.
The other office bearers include publicity and publication secretary Rudra Rasel.
