Bashundhara Group continues to bring relief to cold-hit destitute

Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest business conglomerate, continues to bring relief to cold-hit distressed people in various northern districts by distributing blankets.

The Group, which stands by vulnerable people during any natural disaster and national crisis, distributed the blankets in various places on Friday.

Around three hundred people including elderly, disabled, widow and children received the blankets at the field of the Thakurgaon Government High School.

After getting blanket, 9-year-old Nafi says, "I have been urging my father to bring a new blanket for mine for several weeks but he was unable to buy it. This time I will be able to sleep at night with the new blanket”.

Abu Taher Md Shamsujjaman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Sadar upazila, was present at the blanket distribution event. 

Meanwhile, Bashundhara Group distributed blankets among members of the families of liberation war heroes and freedom fighters on the Jagannathpur Government Primary School premises in Thakurgaon.

Expressing gratitude to Bashundhara Group, Rashmoni, 80-year-old member of a martyred freedom fighter, said: “I pass everyday in torments and struggle to survive as most of my family members were killed during the liberation war in 1971. I did not get anything from anyone except this blanket”.

Abu Taher Md Shamsujjaman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Sadar upazila, and others dignitaries of the locality were present in the programme.

In Tetulia upazila of Panchagarh, the Bashundhara Group distributed blankets among 100 orphan children in Khaykhatpara Nurania and Hafizia Madrasa on Thursday.

Expressing happiness at the blanket, orphan student Al Amin said it will protect them from bone-chilling cold during this winter season.

Principal of the madrasa Maulana Yusuf Ali said that: “Bashundhara Group always stands by poor people during their hardship. Earlier, in the difficult times of Corona, they distributed relief to the orphans. This time, the Bashundhara Group has brought blankets for the orphans and students of the madrasa. Such love for orphans and madrasa students has fascinated us. Our expectation is that they will always stand by the poor people during any crisis.”

Meanwhile, Bashundhara Group distributed 100 blankets among enthnic Santal people at Borobalia in Thakurgaon district.

A number of 300 distressed people received blankets from Bashundhara Group at Dinajpur Academy High School premises in Dinajpur district the same day.
