Road accidents kill 4 in two districts

At least four people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents in two districts.

In Mymensingh, a couple was killed after a sand-laden truck hit their motorcycle in Kutubpur area under Trishal upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Emdadul Haque, 35, son of late Manik Mandal and his wife Nargis Akter of Daulatpur upazial of Kushtia. They were garments workers.

Quoting locals, Abu Bakkar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Trishal Police Station, said the sand-laden truck hit the motorcycle on which the victim were riding on Balipara-Trishal road at 10:00am, leaving Nargis dead on the spot and Emadul injured.

Later locals took the injured to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) where duty doctor declared Emadul dead at 12:00pm.

In Faridpur, a woman and his granddaughter were killed and several others injured after a pick-up van rammed human hauler near Maniknagar Bridge in Nagarkanda upazila on Thursday morning.

The accident took place at 11:00am on Dhaka-Barisal highway.

The deceased were identified as Nabi Begum, 62, wife of late Rabban Sheikh of Kumarpatti village in Saltha upazila of Faridpur and her granddaughter Moyna Begum, 22.

The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital.
