Bangladesh premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will be available in Bangladesh Test team from after January 2022, said BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin on Thursday.
Shakib has been skipping red-ball cricket on a regular basis since he asked for a six-month break from Test ahead of South Africa Test tour in 2017 and he showed different reasons to pull out from red-ball cricket during the time frame.
The 34-year old missed in the opening Test against Pakistan in Chattogram due to his hamstring injury took part in the final Test but stepped out of the upcoming New Zealand tour citing family reasons.
Bangladesh played seven Test matches this year where Shakib took part just three Test matches. He appeared in the World Test Championship against West Indies in February in Chattogram, a game in which he got injured midway and later missed Dhaka Test. He then opted out Sri Lanka Test series and took part in the IPL as part of T20 World Cup preparation.
Shakib did not take part when Bangladesh toured New Zealand last time as he took a paternity leave for the birth of his child. He also missed the Test series against New Zealand in 2019.
