Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday morning for a 2-day visit to finalise the visit of the Indian President.
Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen received him at the Hazrat Shahjalam International Airport.
Later, both the Foreign Secretaries sat in a meeting at 12 noon at Foreign Service Academy.
The Indian President Ram Nath Kovind will pay a State visit to Bangladesh on December 15-17 to attend the 50th Victory Day of Bangladesh.
Shingrla will call on Foreign Minister Abdul Momen at Foreign Service Academy at 2pm.
The Foreign Secretary is scheduled to call on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina on December 8.
He will also call on Minister for Road Transport and Bridges and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today.
India’s relationship with Bangladesh is one of the strongest pillars of its "Neighbourhood First Policy”.
In this special year, India and Bangladesh are jointly commemorating 50 years of the establishment of their diplomatic ties.
Foreign Secretary’s visit to Bangladesh, a day after the Maitri Diwas celebrations, will provide an opportunity to review the wide-ranging cooperation between the two countries.
The visit will also help prepare for the State Visit of President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind to Bangladesh.
