Bangladesh’s two shuttlers Yeamin Hossain and Sharmi Mazumdar will take part in the ongoing fourth edition of the Asian Youth Para Games, scheduled to be held December 2-6 in Manama, Bahrain.

Yeamin and Sharmi will compete in badminton events on Sunday as independent participants as Bangladesh lost their membership in the International Para Olympic Committee due to internal conflicts between the National Para Olympic Committee and the National Games for Disabilities.

National Games for Disabilities, which was under Ministry for Social Welfare, changed its name National Para Olympic Committee in 2005. Both committees claimed their legitimacies to International Para Olympic Committee. But the International Para Olympic left it on Ministry for Youth and Sports to fix the conflict.

The ministry formed an ad-hoc committee which was also failed and since then no progress was made in this field. The International Para Olympic Committee vanished Bangladesh’s membership. Meantime, Bangladesh didn’t take part in the Para Olympics in 2012, 2016 and 2020.
