Investment Summit attracts  $1.73 billion FDI proposal

Bangladesh Investment Summit wrapped up on Monday reportedly getting proposal of around  1.73 billion US dollar foreign direct investment.

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) executive chairman Md Sirazul Islam revealed the information at the closing ceremony  at Radisson Blu Dhaka on Monday.

"Foreign investors from Saudi Arabia, China and other countries have expressed interest in energy, ship building, cement, readymade garment and other potential sectors," Md Sirazul Islam said.

Some 465 foreigners represented different countries and international agencies at the two day summit in Dhaka.

Finance Minister Mustafa Kamal connected the closing ceremony as chief guest on the occasion.

Prime Minister's Adviser Salman F Rahman, Dhaka North City Corporation(DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam and State Minister for Power and Energy  were presented as special guest in-peraon at the function. 

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) executive chairman Mohammad Sirazul Islam 

There was held a signing ceremony between Bida and Karnafuli Specialised Economic Zone at the function

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturer and Exporter Association(BGMES) President Faruque Hassan, Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and   Industry (FICCI) President Rupali Chowdhury, Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries(BWCCI) President Selima Ahmad were also present in the meeting.
