Mariner clinch Premier Division Hockey title

Mariner Youngs’ Club clinched the Premier Division Hockey title beating Mohammedan Sporting Club by 3-2 goals after five years in the last match of the Super Five round at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in the capital on Saturday.

Mariner won their second successive trophy as they earned their first league title in 2016 which was also their major achievement in the domestic competitions.

However, the club earlier earned the Club Hockey Cup title last October. With the league title, they achieved a new feat of securing the two domestic titles for two consecutive times.

Shohanur Rahman scored twice in the 14th, 24th minutes of the game and Pardeep Mor added one in the 51st minute for the champions.

For Mohammedan, Gonzalo Peilet and Sarower Hossain netted one each in the 10th and 57th minutes of the match.
