The elections to 19 Union Parishad (UPs) of Sundarganj and Palashbari upazilas in Gaibandha ended peacefully on Sunday as a part of 3rd phase UP elections across the country, BSS reported.

The voting began at 8 am and continued till 4 pm without any break.

A total of 4,35,950 voters cast their votes at 186 voting centres to elect their local government representatives in 19 unions of the upazilas, local election office sources said.

 Voters were seen standing in line for casting their valuable franchise. Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Ansars were seen patrolling in the unions for maintaining peaceful elections.
