Maldives Vice President concludes official visit to Bangladesh

Vice President of Maldives Faisal Naseem concluded his three-day official visit to Bangladesh Wednesday evening.

Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen saw Faisal Naseem off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 7:30pm.

Upon his arrival Monday (Nov 22) morning, Dr AK Abdul Momen, the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister, received the Vice President at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, according to the President’s Office of Maldives.

The Vice President visited and toured several key institutions, including Bangabandhu Museum, the Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Centre (BKTTC) and the National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education & Research (NIANER), where he discussed partnerships in developing technical capacity in the Maldives, especially in the areas of healthcare and education.

During the trip, the Vice President met with Bangladeshi cabinet ministers, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Expatriate’s Welfare and Overseas Employment, Imran Ahmad, Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel, the Bangladeshi Minister of Youth and Sports and the Minister of Education, Dr Dipu Moni. The Vice President accepted scholarships offers from Bangladeshi Institutions.

On Tuesday, the Vice President called on the President of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid at the Bangladeshi Presidential Palace, Bangabhaban and later met with Maldivian Students residing in the country.

On the final day of the Vice President's three-day official visit to Bangladesh, he paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Earlier, he met with Minister of Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque.

The Vice President was accompanied on this trip by a delegation of cabinet ministers and high-ranking officials from the President’s Office and the government.
