Rajshahi Division and Barishal Division clinched victories in their respective fifth round tier-2 matches of the ongoing National Cricket League in Sylhet on Wednesday.
Rajshahi defeated Chattogram Division by 166 runs while Barishal beat Dhaka Metro by seven wickets on the final day of the penultimate round of the NCL.
Chattogram, which resumed an overnight score of 226-7, were bowled out for 247 runs in their second innings to give Rajshahi the taste of the first victory in the ongoing tournament.
Rajshahi pacer Shafiqul Islam took all three remaining wickets of Chattogram on the final day.
Rajshahi earlier scored 194 and 338-8d while Chattogram made 119 runs in their first innings.
In the other tier-2 match, Barishal comfortably chased the target of 65 runs by losing only three wickets to earn victory over Metro, which earlier were bowled out for 325 runs in their second innings.
Metro’s Sharifullah remained unbeaten on 52 runs.
In a rain-marred tier-1 match, Rangpur declared their first innings at 222-6 on the final day after resuming their overnight score of 60-1.
Dhaka, which earlier made 371 runs in their first innings, scored 157-3 in their second innings before the match ended in a draw.
Amite Hasan (63), Enamul Haque jnr (53) and Jaker Ali (50) all scored fifties before Sylhet were bowled out for 294 runs in their second innings against Khulna after resuming on 80-1.
Khulna pacer Al-Amin Hossain, who claimed a five-for in the first innings, also took four wickets in the second innings.
Chasing a target of 244 runs, Khulna reached 13-1 before both sides agreed to a draw result in the contest.
Khulna earlier scored 183 runs in their first innings while replying to Sylhet’s 132 runs.
The sixth and final round matches will take place from November 21.
