Rehana Maryam Noor bagged two awards at Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

The director of the film Abdullah Mohammad Saad bagged the Jury Grand Prize and actress Azmeri Haque Badhon bagged award in Best Performance by an Actress category for her acting in Rehana Maryam Noor.

The award winners were announced on Thursday at the 14th APSA Ceremony on Australia’s Gold Coast. The ceremony was streamed across the globe.

‘I feel extremely happy and delighted to win this prestigious award. The film has brought a huge honour for the country,’ Azmeri Haque Badhon told journalists.

The film will be released at twelve cinemas across Bangladesh on Friday. In Dhaka, the film will be released at cinemas namely Star Cineplex branches at Bashundhara City and Mirpur, Blockbuster Cinemas, Shyamoli Cinema, Sena Auditorium and Madhumita. Besides, the film will be released at leading cinemas in Chattogram, Narayanganj and Bogura.

Earlier, Rehana Maryam Noor was screened at the 74th Cannes Film Festival’s prestigious Un Certain Regard section on July 7.

Rehana Maryam Noor is the second directorial venture by Abdullah Mohammad Saad. The film revolves around a private medical college teacher who witnesses an unexpected incident while leaving the college one day. The teacher starts to protest against the incident and the system.

The film stars Azmeri Haque Badhan, Saberi Alam, Afia Zahin, Kazi Sami Hasan, Afia Tabassum, Yasir Al Haque and others.
