Bangladesh national cricket team director Khaled Mahmud on Thursday informed that BCB is planning to include an ODI tournament along with traditional four-day cricket in the upcoming four-team franchise-based Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) starting from December first week.
Walton Group and Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd are the franchises of Central Zone and East Zone respectively while BCB will run the other two franchises- BCB North Zone and BCB South Zone.
Talking to the media, Mahmud also informed that BCL will be staged right after ending NCL in December first week. He also added that the salaries of the local coaches are likely to be reformed.
“BCL will start on December 7 or 10. Groundsmen are asked to make better and bouncy wickets ahead of the tournament. We can decide now in which field we can use, which field will be available and which will be rested. Besides, we can reform the coaches’ salaries,” Mahmud told the media.
“We can prefer ODI format rather than T20 because there are not many ODIs before DPL. Many suggested T20 but we do not have ample time in hand. We have a busy domestic calendar with BPL is looming. So there could be an ODI format along with four-day cricket. BCL ODI will be a single league with top two teams will play the final,” he said.
The four teams will be played by the double league without the participating of the national team’s players, who will be busy in their national commitment.
