Fire at a chemical factory in Gazipur

A fire broke out at a chemical factory at Telihati under Sreepur upazila in Gazipur on Wednesday evening.

Being informed, firefighters rushed to the spot and were trying to bring the blaze under control till writing of this report at 8:35pm.

No casualty was reported yet.

Khaleda Yasmeen, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) control room, told the Daily Sun that the ASM Chemicals Factory caught fire around 7:25pm.

Seven units of the firefighters were dispatched to the spot and they were trying their best to douse the flame.

Belal Ahmed, warehouse inspector of the FSCD, told this correspondent that there was no worker in the factory as it closed before the fire broke out.

No casualty occurred, he said.

Khandaker Imam Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station, said that the fire seemed to be very devastating.
