Covid-19: Bangladesh logs 8 more deaths, 166 new cases

Bangladesh reported eight more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till 8am Saturday, a DGHS release confirmed.

Besides, 166 people tested positive for the virus during the same period, which is the lowest since 13 April last year.

Comparing to the number of tests, the detection rate stood at 1.25 percent.

The official tally showed the virus killed 27,862 people and infected 15,69,328 so far, it added. 

The recovery count rose to 15,33,147 after another 281 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day. 

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning 97.69 percent recovered, while 1.78 percent died. 

The DGHS said among the total 27,862 fatalities, 12,148 deaths occurred in Dhaka division, 5,657 in Chattogram, 2,043 in Rajshahi, 3,597 in Khulna, 946 in Barishal, 1,265 in Sylhet, 1,363 in Rangpur and 843 in Mymensingh division.
