Bangladesh need to use Mustafiz in a more attacking role, says Agarkar

Former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar has suggested that Bangladesh need to use Mustafizur Rahman in a more attacking role to get the best out of the left-arm pacer.

Talking with ESPNcricinfo, Agarkar mentioned that Mustafiz has not been used properly yet in the ongoing ICC World T20 but Mustafiz must take wickets to bring the team back to success.

“Against Sri Lanka, Mustafiz bowled just three overs. Against England too, he bowled only three overs. He is not bowling badly. But your strike bowlers have to take wickets,” Agarkar told ESPNcricinfo.

The 43-year-old former Indian pacer reckoned that Mustafiz could make a crucial role against West Indies, who are one of the dangerous batting sides in T20 cricket.

“They might use him (Mustafiz) in a more aggressive role, especially against the West Indies, as they have a long and explosive batting line-up,” he said.

“Within the earlier matches, they stored dropping wickets so that they had been below stress. So will probably be essential for him to take wickets, and Bangladesh ought to take a look at him in that function. Even when he provides 10-15 runs additional, it’s nonetheless okay as it will be extra helpful if he takes two-three wickets,” Agarkar added.

Mustafiz took two wickets in the Super 12s stage against West Indies on Friday.

Earlier he claimed six wickets in three qualifier matches in Oman.
