Mirza Fakhrul criticises govt for failing to arrest prices of essentials

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir criticised the government for failing to control prices of essentials.

People are suffering a lot due to rise in prices of rice, rental, oil, salt and other essentials, he said.

He was addressing a human chain organised by Jatiyatabadi Sechchasebok Dal front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital protesting the price spiral on Friday.

A vested quarter manipulates the market and the authorities remain silent spectator, he said adding that the government has taken anti-people stand.

Fakhrul also demanded constitution of an “acceptable” Election Commission for holding free and fair parliamentary polls.

Jatiyatabadi Sechchasebok Dal acting president Mostafizur Rahman presided over the programme which was dressed by BNP standing committee members Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and Nizam Uddin Alam, Sechchasebok Da leader Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel and Yasin Ali and Dhaka north BNP convenor Amanullah Aman.
