The authorities of Jahangirnagar University have decided not to allow the admission seekers into residential halls this year following the measure taken aiming to stem down the spread of coronavirus among its residential students.

A notice signed by JU acting registrar Rahima Kaneez confirmed the decisions on Thursday.

Besides, the first-year students, yet to be allowed into dormitories, have been asked to contact their attached hall administration on October 30.

The admission seekers used to participate in examinations under different units staying in the residential facilities which include native students’ room, central and halls mosque, TV and indoor sports room.

However, registrar Rahima Kaneez said it is not possible to allow admission seekers into halls considering the health security of the residential students.

Earlier, on October 11, the authority reopened its dormitories for both honours and masters students except the first-year students.
