182 dengue patients hospitalised, one more die in last 24 hours

The country’s dengue situation has improved slightly as the health experts hoped that the number of dengue cases may start declining in the next month November.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 182 more dengue patients were hospitalized while one death was reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning. 

It said 4,673 dengue patients were hospitalized in October, 7,841 dengue patients were hospitalized in September, 7,698 dengue patients in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in last month July, 34 dengue patients died in the last month August, 23 in September and 19 deaths have been reported in the current month October, the health directorate data added.

The DGHS said 141 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and 41 patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8am on Tuesday.

A total of 687 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 154 outside the city, it said.

The number of death from the dengue disease also has been increasing day by day as a total of 88 deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year, the DGHS added.

The unofficial sources from different hospitals said around 107 people, who were infected with dengue, died in the country this year. 

A total of 22,870 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country including in Dhaka city since January until October 26 this year.

So far, 21,941 dengue patients have been released from hospitals after recovery, the DGHS report said.
The experts said the dengue situation has already started improving and the number of cases will decline in the upcoming November month.

According to the DGHS, the dengue situation was worst in August and September month while a number of dengue patients also were hospitalized already in the current month October.
