The government has extended the time for Hilsa fish export to neighbouring India until November 5.

Earlier, the country gave go-ahead to 115 business organisations to ship 40 tonnes Hilsa fish each to India as a gesture of goodwill marking the Durga Puja, Hindu community’s religious  festival held on October 11-15.

But, the organisations could not send the total quantity due to 22-day ban on netting, selling and transportation of Hilsa from October 4 to 25.

Under this circumstance, the commerce ministry extended the time on Tuesday by issuing a circular.
