The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police on Thursday arrested an Islamic orator for delivering instigating speech over the recent attacks on the Hindus.

A team of Cyber Police Centre (CPC) under the CID arrested the orator named Maulana Abdur Rahim Biplobi, 39,  from Chunkutia in Keraniganj on the outskirts of the capital  at about 7:20am, said a press release signed by Mohammad Mahmudul Islam  Talukder, additional special superintendent of police at the CID.

According to the press release, Abdur Rahim at a waz mahfil (religious programme) demanded the arrest of the persons who kept the holy Quran on the feet of an Idol in Cumilla City by October 14. 

Otherwise, he threatened to smash all the Hindu temples across the country on October 15. After his speech spread on social media, the law and order got worse. Attacks were carried out on the houses and business establishments of the Hindu community at different points of the country. Many people demanded the arrest of Abdur Rahma.

So, he was arrested and a case was filed against him with Paltan Model Police Station.
