Bangladesh national football team will return home on October 17 as per the pre-arranged schedule.
Earlier on Wednesday, Bangladesh played a 1-1 draw against Nepal in their fourth and last round-robin match and failed to qualify for the final of the ongoing SAFF Championship.
Forward Sumon Reza gave Bangladesh an early lead in the first half before midfielder Anjan Bista equalized the margin from a controversial penalty for Nepal after the men in red and green were reduced to 10-man.
Bangladesh national football team manager Satyajit Das Rupu and goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico spoke to the reporters at the team hotel in Male, Maldives on Thursday.
“Getting a red card in the match, it was an accident. But the referee gave a poor penalty decision in favour of Nepal. We were very much hopeful to play the final of the tournament. But our dream was finally shattered,” Zico said.
Meanwhile, midfielder Biplob Ahmed, who suffered an injury on the face during the match against Nepal on Wednesday, had received three stitches.
