Low forms in Bay, rain may increase

Slight fall in temperature has brought no respite in public life.

The intensity of rain may increase as low has formed over the Bay of Bengal, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday.

According to Met office, no rain was recorded in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions from 6am on Wednesday to 6am on Thursday. The highest rainfall of 17mm was recorded in Patuakhali during this period.

Apart from Patuakhali, Faridpur recorded 15 mm of rainfall, Madaripur 2mm and Kishoreganj’s Nicole recorded light rain.

Meteorologist A K M Ruhul Kuddus said a low has formed over east-central Bay and it has also extended to the North Bay.

However, rain may increase within three days. Due to valedictory monsoon winds, weather condition is now in favourable, the meteorologist said.

According to weather bulletin for the 24 hours starting from 9 am on Thursday, rain or thunderstorm accompanied by gusty wind is likely to occur in parts of Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions.

On the other hand, weather may persist in other parts of the country.

Besides, day and night temperature may remain unchanged across the country, the Met office said.
